In this Spanish-dubbed keynote, DiPLab’s Antonio Casilli (Professor at the Institute Polytechnique de Paris) explores how digital labor has evolved into a defining feature of our global economy. He examines how various forms of digital work – from platform labor to AI training – remain largely invisible despite their crucial role in our digital lives. Drawing on Latin American perspectives, Casilli analyzes the false divide between digital consumption and production. He demonstrates how digital labor extends far beyond tech workers and gig workers to encompass entire user communities. His talk explores the complex intersection of digital work with informality and coloniality, while examining emerging policy frameworks for human labor in digital economies and new frontiers of platform and AI activism.
